Course Description:  A study of the legal and business structure of professional and amateur sports, including an overview of the development of the professional sports industry, an examination of the basic agreements controlling professional sports, representation of professional athletes, the role of labor unions in professional sports, sports league governance and decision-making, sports media issues, and amateur athletic associations. Consideration is given to the various constituencies within professional and amateur sports, the extent to which they have different interests, and the legal framework within which they seek to advance those interests.
